History of #RedWednesday
Established in 2016 to raise awareness of Christian persecution worlwide. ACN’s #RedWednesday is now a recognised national and international campaign. With red being the colour of martyrdom and ACN’s brand colour schools, parishes and individual across the country have been raising awareness by lighting red, wearing red, or theme their fundraising or services red.
Today we recognise the extent to which Christians and others suffer for their faiths. #RedWednesday is ACN’s opportunity to shine a light on the reality that persecution often goes on unknown, unrecognised and thrives in the darkness. By shining the red light of #RedWednesday we are identifying the extent of persecution. Inviting people to pray, stand in solidarity with and take action for those who suffer persecution. This year we welcome the Church of England standing along side us to shine a light on the persecution faced by our Christian brothers and sisters.
