Millions are persecuted for their peacefully held religious beliefs and urgently need the UK’s help.
In May 2022, the UK’s 10-year international aid strategy overlooked religious minorities. Meanwhile, these communities suffer horrific violations like sexual violence, forced marriage, abduction, displacement, and torture.
Ahead of this year’s #RedWednesday initiative, to raise awareness about persecuted Christians around the world we’re asking you to sign our open letter to Foreign Secretary David Lammy. Together, we can make a difference.
At age 4, Iqbal was forced into bonded labour in a carpet factory to repay his family’s debt. Working 14-hour days in brutal conditions stunted his growth. Despite escaping and becoming an advocate against slavery, Iqbal was killed in 1995 for speaking out.
He’s not alone. In Pakistan, over 1 million people endure bonded labour, with Christians making up 80% of workers in some areas.
