Please note that this is an abridged version of the full Privacy Notice for the Aid to the Church in Need UK. This statement MUST BE read in conjunction with the full Privacy Notice.

1 Introduction
a. Aid to the Church in Need is an international Catholic charity which supports the Church around the world – particularly where it experiences suffering and persecution.
b. ACN UK is committed to conducting its business in accordance with all applicable Data Protection laws and regulations and in line with the highest standards of ethical conduct.
c. We collect personal data from you and we keep a record of the data in order to enable us to comply with our statutory obligations.
d. You have rights with regard to how your personal data is handled by ACN UK.

2 What personal data do we hold about you?
Personal information we collect about you may include:
a. Personal details e.g. name, postal address, phone numbers and email addresses;
b. We do collect Bank details – name, sort code and account number;
c. The communications you exchange with us with email, write a letter or call us;
d. Details of any donations you have made to ACN UK in the past;
e. Information we collect through your use of our website, such as IP address;

3 How and why do we process your personal data?
We use the personal information collected from benefactors for the following purposes:
a. to enable your donation(s) to reach your chosen charity/charities;
b. to manage your donations requests, or calls to action;
c. to fundraise and promote ACN’s work in both financial and non-financial ways;
d. to communicate with you and manage our relationship with you;
e. to personalise and improve your experience when engaging with ACN UK;
f. to inform you about our news and ways you may be able to help ACN UK;
g. to maintain and improve our own accounts, records and organisational processes, to fulfil our administrative purposes and protect our charitable interests;

4 On what grounds do we process your personal data?
ACN UK processes personal data in line with the following principles:
a. where it is necessary for us to fulfil a contract with you;
b. with your consent;
c. when it is in our legitimate interest;
Under Article 6 of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) our lawful basis for processing and holding personal information is ‘legitimate interest’ as it is necessary for Charities Trust to use this information in order to provide you with our services.
As a religious organisation which recruits new benefactors in a very personal way, ACN (UK) has chosen to adopt Legitimate Interest as our approach to GDPR legislation. However, the rights of the benefactor are paramount and ACN (UK) sets out in this document, policies and procedures that allow benefactors to change their contact preferences or stop hearing from us completely.
5 How long will we keep your information for?

Your information will be kept in accordance with our Retention and Disposal of Records policy and/or as required by law. In any event, we will endeavour to only keep Personal Data for as long as is necessary and to delete it when it is no longer so.

6 Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you and to have any inaccuracies corrected. You have rights in respect of the personal data you provided to ACN UK including:

b. Right of access
c. Right to rectification
d. Right to erasure
e. Right to restrict processing
f. Right to data portability
g. Right to object
